8 Bridal Details You Don’t Want to Forget {Wedding Wednesday}

8 Bridal Details
Hello Brides and Happy Wednesday! I’ve been so busy preparing for the 2016 wedding season that I almost forgot to write a post for you! This post is particularly important! We’re going to talk about the 8 bridal details you don’t want to forget on your wedding day! There are ENDLESS amounts of details that you could possibly have, but toady we’re going to talk about the top 8 bridal details that you’ll need to gather for your photographer on your wedding day!

After the rehearsal, make sure you have a list put together of all of your bridal details that are unique to you! After you’ve got the list, GATHER the details and put them in a box, a bag, anything! Just make sure they are all together and ready to go when your photographer arrives. This will save you and the photographer so much stress by already having everything organized and in one location. The last thing you want is to be rushing around the morning of trying to find your shoes or your grandmas necklace! I always ask my brides to put their details in the corner of the room. They’re welcome to describe the significance to me, but as long as it’s in the corner, it will be photographed!

1. The Dress, Hangers, and Veil

Make sure you have the dress in the same room or at least under the same roof. This is usually the first bridal detail that I photograph. Right along with the dress, make sure you have your veil and/or wedding belt with it! You want all of your dress photographed, including the accessories that will complete the dress!

Also consider investing in a nice hanger. Nothing makes a dress look more drab than having a plastic hanger. I highly suggest using a wooden hanger, and you can even shop on Etsy for custom wire name hangers! These add an elegant touch to your beautiful wedding dress! Another option is to have your bridesmaids dresses at the prep location as well! This is not necessary, but it does make for a fun shot of all the dresses! Just make sure the bridesmaid’s dresses have nice hangers too!

Definitely have your shoes with the rest of your details or your photographer may forget to photograph them! Most of the time this is the detail that you forget to set aside, and some cases, forget to bring all together! So make it a priority to gather your shoes first!

You could have LOTS of accessories, or none at all! It just depends on the bride! The only necessary detail are the RINGS! Ladies, all 3 rings need to be together and in the bridal prep location. Do not give them to the guys! Appoint you maid of honor to keep track of the rings in order to make sure they end up in the right hands! Before anyone walks down the isle, your maid of honor will give them to the best man.

Other common accessories are the necklace, bracelets, and earrings. Some brides don’t wear much jewelry, and that’s okay! But if you have lots of bling, make sure all of it is set aside for me to photograph. On the wedding day, neither of us will have time to ask for additional details or collect them. So have all the jewelry that you’ll be wearing ready to go! Oftentimes, brides will have multiple necklaces set aside because they aren’t sure which one they like more. Please decide on all of your details before the wedding day. It’s likely that you’ll spend too much time trying to decide, and most of the time I don’t have enough time to photograph two sets of details. So please make sure you only have one necklace, one bracelet, etc…

If you don’t have a veil, but plan on wearing a hair piece, such as a flower crown, a diamond barrette, etc… include that in the list as well! Most of the time I don’t photograph the hair piece until its actually in your hair, but just in case, you might as well have it with the rest of your details!

These next two are less common details, but if you’ve got them, I’ll photograph them! The garter, and your perfume. I like to photograph the garter ON before you get into your dress, but if you aren’t comfortable with that, I will happily photograph it by itself! Lastly, your perfume! It’s SO often overlooked as a detail, but don’t you want to remember what perfume you wore on your wedding day!? It’s such a special little detail that I love photographing, so include that if you plan on wearing a pretty scent!

Your bouquet, as well as the bridesmaids bouquets, should arrive at the prep location while you get ready (preferably when you start getting ready). Your florist will make sure they are well kept so they don’t wilt before the ceremony and formals! I will need to photograph your bouquet separately so that we don’t waste time photographing that detail during your bride and groom portraits! Speaking of the groom, make sure their boutonnieres are at the groomsmen prep location when I arrive! It’s also a really great idea to ask your florist to set aside some extra flowers with the bouquet! This will add fresh touches to your other detail shots by include some extra florals!

Next up, paper! Some brides have extravagant, 6 piece invitation suits, others just have one invitation with an rsvp card. Whatever you chose for your wedding, be sure to set aside the entire set, including an envelope! Often, brides will send me an invitation in the mail and I will hold on to it until the wedding day. That way, it’s one less thing you have to remember!

Last but definitely not least… your family heirlooms! You’ve heard the saying, right? “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” Most of the time the something old, borrowed, and blue are family heirlooms passed down from bride to bride! Don’t overlook these! If your grandma hands you a handkerchief at the rehearsal, include that in your details! Heirlooms are a particularly important detail, so please gather all your heirlooms into one, separate pile so I know the importance of them!

Something else to consider is also setting aside additional “filler” details. Things like lace/ribbon that you’re using the hold your bouquet together, or burlap that will be placed on your reception tables, or maybe details that goes along with your theme (such as a feather if you’re having a vintage theme featuring owls, or maybe even a globe if you’re having a travel around the world theme). These extra little details will have a huge impact on your detail shots. They will add interest, elegance, and variety to you special details! The options are endless, but don’t feel pressured to add details that aren’t important to you!

To sum it up, set aside any detail that you’ve put thought into, and anything that’s particularly special to you or your family! I’ll be sure to capture all your amazing details during the bridal prep, so afterwards, none of us will have to worry if I got that shot or that shot! You can rest assured knowing that all the special details have been taken care of! Thanks SO much for reading and follow Bailey Elle Photography on Facebook or Instagram for more updates!
