Ashley & Jim came all the way from Chicago for their bright & sunny, spring Lafayette engagement session! We scheduled their session for sunset, but because of Chicago traffic, I advised that they arrive 30 minutes early, just in case they hit that terrible traffic. What I didn’t expect was that they’d be early, on top of not having hit any traffic! When we arrived for their spring Lafayette engagement session, the sun was still high in the sky.

I deal with bad light during each wedding, so I wasn’t worried about it being too bright. However, I was a little sad that we weren’t shooting right at sunset. But, very very soon (I’m talking 3 photos in), I was head over heels for the bright sunlight! I never have engagement sessions during this time of day, because I just love that golden glow, but holy cow! The bright sunlight was perfect for Ashley & Jim’s spring engagement session! It was bright, it was fresh, and it was DIVINE! Perfect for their laid back and casual personalities!

We lucked out for their session because the week before, the forecast called for rain and lots of it, and the trees hadn’t even bloomed yet! Ugh! But the day of their session was all sunshine, lots of spring greens, and even more fluffy dandelions! Ashley & Jim, I had a great time getting to know you and I’m so glad you decided to have your engagement session (even though you weren’t so sure about it at first)! I absolutely love the chemistry you two share and this has only made me more excited for your Ivy Room wedding in Chicago!
