Kenzie & Alec’s Chicago Spring Proposal session was INCREDIBLE! For context, Alec is my cousin (my very beloved cousin). We grew up playing silly games in the pool, spending nights playing pretend in his basement, and spent our whole lives seeing each other grow. His sister, Dana (and also a beloved cousin!), reached out to me a month or so prior to this Chicago Spring Proposal. I immediately was ready to drop everything I had planned to be there for these moments. The kicker was that it had to be a surprise… Let the planning begin!

Alec knew that his and Kenzie’s family HAD to be there somehow. But he also wanted it to be a private moment. And Kenzie COULD NOT KNOW about it. So after a while of brainstorming we came up with a pretty good plan. Dana would be in town that day, so why not make fancy lunch plans with her. Well, since Alec and Kenzie happen to have extra time before their lunch reservations, why not take a little stroll through Lincoln Park (where I would be hiding and waiting haha)! I had only met Kenzie twice at this point so I hoped maybe if she did see me, she wouldn’t really recognize me.

Dana and I spent the morning scoping out the right location; one that was private, easily accessible, I could be hidden, and Dana and Kendall (Kenzie’s sister) could be hidden while watching the magical moment unfold. The best location required Alec to walk with Kenzie down a stone staircase into a dead end. Later on Kenzie revealed that she knew something was up when Alec wanted to walk down into this area! For the Chicago Spring Proposal itself, I think the pictures speak louder than I ever could. But immediately after, both Dana & Kendall ran out from their hiding spot to greet them with the world’s biggest hugs!

Now, so far theres one major detail I left out; how Alec planned to incorporate their families. Once Kenzie had said yes, everyone revealed that there obviously was no fancy lunch plans. It was all a ruse. So Kendall chimes in (nonchalantly as if this wasn’t planned), “Let’s go back to my place for lunch!” And naturally, I want to be included too and asked if I could join! But what Kenzie didn’t know is that their families were there waiting.

Alec & Kenzie’s Chicago Spring Proposal was SO special. I am so grateful for my family’s continued support. Being able to give these photos to them made my heart sing like no other. And in just a few short months, you’ll be seeing hundreds upon hundreds of photos from their Three Oaks Michigan Wedding!
