Ashley & Jim’s Ivy Room Chicago wedding was a total dream! I’m definitely not a city girl, so I was littler nervous about photographing in Chicago… people in the backgrounds, navigating the roads, fitting architecture into my otherwise nature inspired photography… I just wasn’t sure what the outcome would be, but I did know that it would be beautiful no matter what!

I *almost* don’t know what to say about this FLAWLESS Ivy Room wedding, but here goes nothing. For starters, we had the most perfect weather you could ever hope for, Chicago traffic was as smooth as could be, and every siren in the city went off during their ceremony! Okay, that last one may not sound ideal, but Ashley, Jim, & all of their guests got a huge kick out of it! It wasn’t just noise, it was the whole city celebrating their marriage at the same time! It was Chicago’s version of magical, you could say.

Throughout the day, I learned SO much about Ashley & Jim. I learned that Ashley is obsessed with gangster rap music, she’s fascinated with the Amish culture, and she was one of those emo kids in high school that listened to screaming music. Hey! Nothing wrong with that! I was one of those kids too! As the day kept going on and on, I just kept learning so many little things about them! Every moment was filled with inside jokes and that really helped me remember why I fell in love with wedding photography in the first place.

Ashley & Jim, their friends, and their family, are the most important thing in the world to each other.  And I get the honor of being the one outsider who, compared to everyone else there, doesn’t really have any idea who the bride & groom really are. I get to listen, observe, and most importantly, photograph their weird, crazy, love for each other. It’s truly an honor.

Ashley & Jim, thank you for making me feel so welcome and thank you for sharing your wedding day with me! I couldn’t have asked for anything better and I am SO excited to finally get to share the images from your Ivy Room Chicago wedding with you! Based off your Instagram posts and stories, I’d say you two are loving the married life and I cannot wait to see more of your silly adventures!
