Morgan & Derek’s Joshua Tree Maternity Session was so much better than I could have imagined! Not only did I get to reconnect with one of my favorite hula hooper friends, I got to FINALLY meet her husband. But even better yet, I went all the way out to Joshua Tree National Park to photograph an incredibly beautiful time in her life! Morgan is a beautiful human inside and out! Her entire being was completely radiant during her Joshua Tree Maternity Session.

For any photographers wondering, you do need a permit to shoot at Joshua Tree. But the process is SUPER easy! Before we entered the park, we went to the visitor center about 10 minutes down the road and ran into a park ranger. So naturally I asked him about all the locations I was permitted to shoot at. With flying colors, he recommended our first location be at Hidden Valley and our sunset location at Quail Springs. We scoped out multiple other areas and these two were hands down the best ones for photography! This park ranger really knew what he was talking about!

These two areas are both very easily accessible. We literally parked in the lot and walked about 10 seconds to get to both locations! Their session was on a Saturday evening in June and the areas had plenty of parking left and overall, didn’t have that many people. I rarely had to change my composition or angle to avoid other park guests. I hope this bit of information is helpful to any photographers hoping to shoot at Joshua Tree National Park someday! Morgan & I first met in Bali in 2015 (which reminds me, I should probably blog those photos haha). She was the videographer for the Movement Meditation Retreat that I was hired to photographed! Morgan, you are so special to me. I am so happy to call you my friend, and now call Derek my friend as well. I loved getting to see you again. You were truly glowing and will absolutely be an incredible mother! Baby boy is due any day now. He might already be Earth-side for all I know! I wish you and your family all the health and happiness in the world and I can’t wait to meet Baby Bingo someday.
