Family sessions are like sprinkles on the ice cream for me. They make my job that much sweeter and add a little variety to my life. And this Late Summer Indiana Family Session was just too sweet not to share! Emily & Nick have three gorgeous, and curious little girls, so naturally, I took them to a flower field, where they could look, and touch, and smell, all the different flowers. With family sessions, I really love to just allow this kids to do whatever they want. You want to pick flowers? Go for it. You want to climb on that log? Go for it. Play tag? Sure, why not.

When you let the kids just be kids, and have the parents just play with them and explore with them, you create such a beautiful and natural story of what it was like to be a family during this season of their lives. And when you tell a story instead of create perfectly forced smiles, the photos really start to speak for themselves. Emily & Nick’s late summer Indiana family session really lit a fire in me when it comes to story telling, so I imagine I’ll be making this more of a usual thing.
