What can I say that will describe just how awesome Lauren & Cody’s Dove House at Lionsgate Colorado wedding was?!?! I could spend HOURS talking about the crazy whirlwind of their day! It started for me back in 2012 or 2013 when I met Lauren at concert in Indiana. She was this cool chick with a hula hoop, but also with a camera! So naturally, I had to see what her deal was! We ended up chatting for a bit and went our separate ways, but not before adding each other on Facebook first! Throughout the past 5 years, we’ve been keeping up with each other’s photography businesses. So guys, Lauren is an AMAZING photographer. Amazing as in, she shoots fashion for magazines. Yea. Imagine my surprise when this incredible photographer reached out to me about her Dove House at Lionsgate Colorado wedding!
Lauren & Cody have a really unique love story that I completely adore! So, back in the day when they were both attending Purdue University in Lafayette, IN, Cody worked at the Monitor Station printing design & photography students’ work. He was always there while Lauren was always printing her photography work. They started talking about music because they recognized all the band merchandise they were wearing (any one else a String Cheese Incident fan?). After a few months of being mere acquaintances, Lauren ended up hopping into a van with him last minute after Cody’s friend bailed on a show at Red Rocks in Denver, Colorado. The same Red Rocks where we had their engagement session! They drove across the country- picking up a random person they didn’t know along the way- and headed out to Colorado for the Pretty Lights show. And they’ve been together since.
First off, what?!?! Isn’t their story one of the most random yet magically aligned stories you’ve ever heard?! The Universe obviously had something in store for these two!
Lauren & Cody’s Dove House at Lionsgate Colorado wedding started out as normal as ever, but with every passing hour it became more and more unique. We took the party bus to the grassy foothills of the Boulder Flatirons where we had their engagement session, and spent a chaotic half hour in the rain! As soon as we got off the bus, the driver had to move as to not get ticketed. But sadly, he took the bouquets with him. Whoops! Good thing we had umbrellas for everyone to hold!
When the driver finally got back around to us, the rain had let up, BUT guess who decided to crash our party? A park ranger. Yerp. We got in trouble. Apparently you can’t just park along side the road and stand in the field with 20 people! Who knew! He was nice enough to try and work out a deal with his boss (thanks for trying!), but ultimately we had to pack up and continue wedding party photos at a different location!
We started heading down to the Boulder Flatirons Chautauqua Park (same view of the mountains, but for the public) and when we arrived, we were greeted with gorgeous sunshine! For the next half hour, we hustled our butts off to get us back on track! We failed at keeping up with the timeline, but at least we had fun doing it! But the good news is that Tanner and I are huge planners, so we had put at least 30 minutes of buffer time in the schedule! You know, just in case a fiasco like getting kicked out by a park ranger were to happen. So when we finally arrived at the Dove House at Lionsgate, we were right on time!
We kicked off the next part of their wedding with the sweetest and most meaningful Daddy/Daughter first look, followed by the most fun and upbeat family formals ever! I swear, I’ve never loved family formals as much as I did on their wedding day. And before we knew it, a recording of the String Cheese Incident (aka Lauren & Cody’s favorite jam band) started playing as they walked down the aisle.
Lauren & Cody, we are so lucky and so grateful for both of you! We had an incredible time during our week long trip out west, but the highlight of our travels was your Dove House at Lionsgate Colorado wedding! We can’t thank you enough! And when it’s time for Tanner and I to move out to Boulder, we’ll know we have two amazing friends to show us the ropes!
